From Brazil to Amsterdam: A journey of words & purpose

I grew up in Brazil surrounded by dogs, dreaming of becoming a vet. But life, in its wild wisdom, had other plans.

In 2017, I packed my bags and moved to the Netherlands, which quickly became home. What followed was a journey of self-discovery, healing, and spiritual awakening. Along the way, one truth surfaced: my deep, intuitive connection with animals.

That connection became real and grounded when I started volunteering at DOA, Amsterdam’s largest animal shelter. Later, working at their doggy daycare, I began to see dogs differently. Each one had a story and an energy—some eager to play, others hesitant to go in. One dog, Lync, reminded me of myself—introverted, observant, and needing space to trust.

Then came Milo.

At the shelter, I spotted a litter curled up next to their mom. Among them was a curious and sweet puppy who kept staring at me as if we’d known each other forever. I said I’d foster him. But who was I kidding? From the moment I held him, Milo was already mine.
